Kyle Chivers at the Prince’s Trust awards in Bristol

ONE of North Devon’s youngest entrepreneurs Kyle Chivers of Firethought, is celebrating winning the Enterprise of the Year Award, at the Prince’s Trust Awards in Bristol recently.

The Enterprise Award is sponsored by NatWest, and recognises young people who have overcome barriers and achieved success in creating a sustainable business or a community or social enterprise.

22-year-old, Kyle Chivers, said: “I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes during my GCSE years, and I don’t think you can ever get used to the treatment, it completely invades your life. I found it gruelling and debilitating.”

“I was determined to set up my own business and making a career for myself in digital animation, video and virtual reality production, and set up Firethought in 2014,” he said.

“This is a great time for an innovation company like mine working on the global stage, and especially working with Devon based Audax Global Solutions – launching a revolutionary biometric video camera project across the world.”

Mr Chivers, said: “I’m a director for COMBEBusiness and affiliate member of the Devon Chamber where we’re planning one North Devon’s biggest ‘Open For Business’ exhibitions at the Landmark Theatre on the 2 March 2018 with over 40 businesses taking part.”

COMBEBusiness works with local businesses in the Combe Martin, Ifracombe, and Woolacombe areas of North Devon and was set up in 2011, with over 80 members, and became an affiliate member of the Devon Chamber in 2016.
