WESTAWAYS BOSS TALKS BREXIT

OVER 30 business leaders from across Devon attended the Mid Devon Business Forum in Tiverton this week.

The event was opened by the chair Andrew Lathwell, who runs Lathwell & Associates near Tiverton.

Mr Lathwell, said: “The (BFMD) is a joint enterprise with Mid Devon Council and was launched in July 2011. It’s a strong voice for business leaders in Mid Devon.”

“The Forum meets every two months to help local entrepreneurs network, give presentations, and discuss strategic business issues with local policy-makers,” he said.

Charles Baughan, managing director of Westaway Sausages Limited, gave a talk on his award-winning export business, and especially the challenges around Brexit that could affect local firms working on the global stage.

Stuart Elford, the chief executive of Devon and Plymouth Chamber of Commerce, also gave a presentation on Chamber issues, and Brexit challenges facing companies across the whole of Devon.

The (BFMD) has been set up as an Unincorporated Association with the full backing of the Mid Devon District Council and is managed by an Executive Committee.
