INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS THE FACE OF CLEVER STUDENTS LETS

BIOMEDICAL sciences student Heather Dighton is getting used to being the face of a Plymouth company.

The 20-year-old second-year at Plymouth University is one of 54 students chosen by Clever Student Lets to appear on their new marketing banners.

The 1.5-metre-long banners, 108 in total, will hang from lampposts along Cobourg Street, Charles Street, Drake Circus and North Hill, for the next year.

They replace the firm’s current banners, which feature slogans, some in foreign languages, and logos. The lamppost space is leased from a London-based company.

“It’s about showing real people and real faces,” said Clever Student Lets marketing director Rob Ditcher.

He said the firm decided to ask current students and those from this September’s intake who had approached it for help with accommodation, if they wanted to take part.

He said about half were foreign students from countries such as China, Russia, Greece, Germany, Japan, Africa and the Middle East.

“International students are vital for the city’s economy,” Mr Ditcher said.

The students’ photos were taken in a studio set up by Mr Ditcher, a photography graduate from Plymouth College of Arts, in Clever Student Lets’ North Hill offices.

Miss Dighton, from South Wales, said: “I came in here looking for a house and they asked if I would pose for a photo. I was happy to do it.”
