THE EAST END COMMUNITY CENTRE – OPEN FOR BUSINESS AGAIN

THE East End Community Centre Trust in Plymouth – is getting ready to re-open its doors with a grand launch on the 22 June, from 3pm to 6pm.

The City’s Lord Mayor Sue Dann will be cutting a ribbon to celebrate the centre’s role, at the heart of community life in Cattedown.

Our official launch will be showcasing the new IT suite supporting local job seekers, community organisations, trainers, and businesses looking to use our facilities, says Julie Richardson, Centre Manager at the Trust.

New IT suite

Julie, said: “Plymouth City Council awarded the Trust £20K from the ‘Covid 19 Additional Restrictions Grant Fund’ to invest in our new IT Suite, together with a new security system, and office furniture.”

“Following the Covid-19 lockdown, our Trust is looking to get back to normal with ambitious plans to create an arts and craft room, and offering Plymouth companies and organisations a meeting room in the centre of Plymouth to hold client meetings, presentations, especially if you don’t have the office space,” she said.

“The ‘Elder Tree Friday Club’ is already supporting our older residents to create CVs, job search and employment opportunities.”


“We are particularly interested in training organisations that want to use our IT suite or collaborate with our Trust,” she said.

Plymouth Christian Centre Food Parcels


Voluntary Sector Director, Roger Compton, said: “We also provide a designated room for ‘The Plymouth Christian Centre’ that delivers emergency food parcels for people in need in the Cattedown area and vulnerable local residents,” he said.


“The East End Development Trust was established in 2008 for the public benefit of residents in the Cattedown area, and we are really proud we’re open for business again,” said Mr Compton.


A number of guests have been invited to the Grand Launch on the 22 June where refreshments and a finger buffet will be served.
