PLYMOUTH’S TRUE GRIT – DR SUZANNE SPARROW

Plymouth’s FIRST international language school founded by Dr Suzanne Sparrow in the 1970s to help foster educational, cultural, and trading links with Brittany. 

Dr Suzanne Sparrow who is 98 years of age, is one of the city’s inspirational women business leaders of her generation and served in the Navy during the Second World War.

She was the first woman entrepreneur to encourage and set up the international trade desk at the Plymouth Chamber in the 1980s to foster global business links.

Kevin Kelway at Dorcas Media said: “It is way time for her achievements to be recognised with an OBE and services to Plymouth is long over due – and she was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Plymouth Herald and Chamber Business Awards a few years ago.”
