CITY fashion business Glamour Icons is celebrating after winning a contract for a third year in a row to design and make outfits for Plymouth Raiders’ cheerleaders.

Patriciah Petrie, who owns Glamour Icons, said: “Winning the contract is bitter sweet, because I’m saying goodbye to my intern Ornella Jean-Baptiste-Simonne.”

She said the 22-year-old international student, on a placement through Plymouth’s Tellus Group, had been on work experience in her studios for seven months, but is returning to Martinique, in the Caribbean, to complete her studies.

“Ornella has been running my marketing and online activities, and increased my business turnover by over 20 percent, and will be sadly missed,” said Ms Petrie.

Miss Jean-Baptiste-Simonne, added: “I have loved my stay in Plymouth. I’ve improved my English skills, and had great experience working with Glamour Icons.

“But most importantly I’ve lost 40lbs through months of extensive exercising with the support of Patriciah. When I complete my education I’m going to set up my own keep-fit business, and intend to carry on my business links with Plymouth.”
