A special one-day conference is being held at Newton Abbot’s Racecourse Conference Centre, on the 22 March from 9am to 4pm, to look at how Devon’s economy – can influence local and national policy-makers – on key issues affecting the South West region.
The showcase organised by the Devon Chamber will include many large and small companies hosting exhibition stands, with presentations from key speakers including Francis Martin, President of the British Chambers of Commerce, and the Editor of the Western Morning News, Bill Martin, said George Cowcher, Chief Executive of the Devon Chamber.
Mr Cowcher, said: “The day’s programme will feature how the South West is dealing with crucial topics including apprenticeship reforms, innovation in business, education, infrastructure, broadband issues, export opportunities, and why the Chambers need to focus more locally and work in partnership together.”
“It is really important that local businesses have the chance to come together from across the County and wider region – so we can focus on some of our strategic concerns, keep abreast of key developments, but also get the time to network and chat with other businesses from various sectors, and drum up commercial awareness and trade opportunities,” he said.
The conference is being sponsored by Taurus Clearer Communication, and supported by Devon College Group, GWR, Devon County Council, and Lloyds and Santander banks.
Tickets will include lunch, and are £30 and VAT for Devon Chamber members, and £50 and VAT for non-members.
