FIRMS across the county are to be recognised in the relaunch of ‘Business in Devon’ Awards 2018 – at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, in the centre of Plymouth, on the 8th February.
The awards ceremony will be celebrating and recognising local companies of all sizes and sectors, said the chief executive of the Devon Chamber of Commerce, George Cowcher.
Earlier this year we cancelled our 2017 awards, so that our Chamber organisers- could realign the showcase and dovetail into the prestigious British Chamber of Commerce (BCC) Business Awards-where British companies compete for the coveted titles and the national recognition they bring, said Mr Cowcher.
“The (BCC) Business Awards ceremony takes place in November with entries submitted in April and June. The Devon Business Awards were planned for this month, and local companies would have either missed the deadline for 2017’s (BCC) awards or, would have been far too early,” he said.
“So we decided it made sense to rebrand and relaunch the ‘Business in Devon’ Awards 2018, and give thousands of companies across the county the chance to enter the (BCC) Business Awards.”
“We will be aligning our award categories with those of the British Chamber of Commerce, and making a smooth transition for business entries – but crucially, increasing the chances of Devon firms winning national recognition,” said Mr Cowcher.
The new categories for 2018 includes:
* Small Business of the Year
* Export Business of the Year
* Best use of Technology
* High Growth Business of the Year
* Commitment to People Development
* Education and Business Partnership.
* Excellence in Customer Service
* Health and Wellbeing
* Best Use of Social Media
The prestigious showcase will take place at the upgraded Crowne Plaza Hotel in Plymouth, and will include a three-course black tie dinner, and a prominent guest speaker to be announced soon.
